Samriy Gurariy (Russian, 1916-1998), Nikita Khrushchev possibly at Stalin's funeral, gelatin silver print, date of printing unknown, 11-1/2" x 8-7/8" sheet, good condition. All photographs in this collection were acquired from the estate of Gurariy. Samariy Gurariy was a Soviet photojournalist for the Moscow newspaper, Izvestia. He earned the trust of Joseph Stalin and covered many historic moments in Soviet history. After the Soviet collapse he emigrated to the US in 1995 smuggling many of his photographs with him.
