Samariy Gurariy (Russian, 1916-1998), Joseph Stalin at Potsdam Conference depicting the Soviet leader preparing to be seated, gelatin silver print, date of printing unknown, 15-5/8" x 23" sheet, good condition, damage to bottom left corner. All photographs in this collection were acquired from the estate of Gurariy. Samariy Gurariy was a Soviet photojournalist for the Moscow newspaper, Izvestia. He earned the trust of Joseph Stalin and covered many historic moments in Soviet history. After the Soviet collapse he emigrated to the US in 1995 smuggling many of his photographs with him. He is considered one of Russia�s most important historical photojournalists.
